Naperville, Illinois Branch of AAUW |
|
Membership
Membership is open to all graduates who hold a baccalaureate
degree from an accredited college or university. In addition,
as voted on at the 2005 national convention, AAUW welcomes graduates
holding an associate or equivalent degree from a qualified institution.
Current college or university students may apply for an affiliate
status, which gives them information and support at a reduced
rate. Members come from various backgrounds
and represent a range of occupations, ages, and interests. As
graduates of college programs, the members of AAUW use their
education to promote education and equity for all women and girls.
In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin or disability. From September through May, the Naperville Branch holds a monthly meeting with programs relating to topics of interest. There are also small groups that meet on a regular basis in members' homes. Membership dues include branch, Illinois, and national memberships. Members receive quarterly state and national publications. A monthly branch newsletter keeps members informed of activities throughout the year. Our branch was founded on April 20, 1956.
