Types of Membership

Branch Membership

Joining a branch includes membership in AAUW-IL, Inc. and the Association. Branch membership will include mailings from the Association, the State, and the Branch. AAUW-IL, Inc. issues and mails a quarterly newsletter The Link. Most branches have their own newsletters. AAUW Outlook is the national publication that all members receive. Any members not receiving these should notify the Membership Vice Presidents.

Individual Membership

Join at the national level only without an affiliation with a local branch as a Member-at-Large. Members-at-large will receive the national publications only.

One can also join at the state level by paying the state dues in addition to the national dues. State Members at Large will also recieve the AAUW-IL, Inc. publication, The Link.

Life Membership. By making a one-time payment of the annual dues of $860.00 (20 times the annual dues of $43.00), one becomes a life member who does not pay dues to the national organization (local branch dues and state dues will still apply).

Shape the Future Membership Program

There some changes that went into effect July 1, 2005, including:

  • Anyone joining at a Shape the Future event joins at one-half cost for Association dues
  • For every 2 new members a branch will receive one free membership
  • Branches may earn a maximum of 3 free memberships per year
