Membership
AAUW is the oldest organization in the United States
dedicated to women and girls.
Membership is open to women and men who hold an associate degree or equivalent, or a baccalaureate or higher degree from a qualified educational institution.
Of your $49 national dues, $46 is tax-deductible.
Types of Membership
- Branch: Includes membership in National AAUW, AAUW-Illinois & a local branch. Find a branch near you.
- Individual: Includes membership only in National AAUW. An individual member is not affiliated with AAUW-Illinois nor a local branch.
- State Individual: Includes membership in National AAUW and AAUW-Illinois. This member is not affiliated with any local branch.
Dues Amounts: July 2010 - June 2011
A dues year runs from July 1 - June 30.

Life Membership Note: By making a one-time payment of 20 times the annual dues amount, a paid life member does not pay the Association dues. Local branch and state dues will still apply. For 2010-2011, the one-time payment is $980.

Shape the Future Membership Program
- Anyone joining at an AAUW Shape the Future event joins at one-half cost for Association dues.
- For every two new members, a branch will receive one free membership.
- Branches may earn a maximum of three free memberships per year.
College and University Members
Many Illinois Colleges and Universities (including Community Colleges who award 2-year Associate Degrees) can be, or currently are, institutional members of AAUW. Read about our current College/University Members.
