Educational Foundation & Local Scholarships

2008-2009 Scholarship Applications were due April 1.
They are now closed.

AAUW's Educational Foundation provides funds to advance education, research & self-development of women and to foster equity & positive societal change.

To support the mission of the Educational Foundation, the Lombard Area Branch raises funds for the Foundation and local scholarships with an annual Used Book Sale. 60% of the money raised during this sale is given to the national Educational Foundation to fund grants, research, and other Foundation work. The remaining 40% is used to award four scholarships to women in the Lombard area.

Our branch awards up to two "Return to Learning" scholarships -- scholarships to qualified women continuing higher education after a significant interruption:

  • One awarded to a qualified woman pursuing a bachelor's degree
  • One awarded to a qualified woman pursuing a graduate degree

The other two are given to local high school students -- one to a Glenbard East High School senior and one to a Willowbrook High School senior. Each high school chooses one recipient.
