Welcome!
AAUW Elmhurst Area Branch is dedicated to the AAUW mission of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.

Branch meetings take place on the second Wednesday of each month from September through May.  For the location and time of meetings, please check the Meeting/Program schedule.

Visitors and prospective members are welcome to all of our meetings.  If you are interested in joining our branch, please come to one of our meetings and ask for a membership application.

Elmhurst Branch Philanthropic Activities
For over 50 years, the Elmhurst Area Branch has sponsored an annual Used Book Sale. This is our primary philanthropic activity. The dates for the 2011 sale are August 11, 12, and 13 at Conrad Fisher Elementary School. The proceeds from this sale are used to fund National and Local scholarship.

In December, Elmhurst Branch Members wrap books at Boarders in Oak Brook. Funds from this activity are donated to the Human Development Foundation. This organization builds secular schools for girls (and now boys) in Pakistan. Our member Azra Haque, is on the board of the foundation.

Race to Nowhere” is a call to action for families, educators, and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, contributing and leading citizens. A concerned mother turned filmmaker aims her camera at the high-stakes, high-pressure culture that has invaded our schools and our children's lives. Tickets are free but required for the event.
